K103 Göteborgs Studentradio is a radio ran by students from Chalmers and the University of Göteborg. Composed of more than 100 members, the radio is broadcasting shows in Swedish and English on evenings and weekends. The rest of the time the radio channel 103 is reserved for music.

How can I listen to the radio show ?

The radio channel of K103 is of course 103. But you can also have access to their shows on their internet website  http://k103.se/program , and on their mixcloud account.

The shows are normally available “forever” on the website, in case you missed one.

Of course they are also present on Facebook page (K103 Göteborgs Studentradio) and even on Instagram (K103).

Which kind of radio show is Mila broadcasting ?

Mila, Patrick, Friederika and Zanna on Next Stop Göteborg

Mila is part of two radio shows at K103. She first joined Patrick, Friederike and Zanna on Next Stop Göteborg, an English show about events happening in the city, broadcast on Saturdays from 1pm to 1:30. Their last session was presenting the different Christmas Markets happening in the city. An information you should definitely not miss.

Later, she asked to create her own show, sometimes in English, sometimes in Swedish, with her friend Patrick: Blå Timme. In this show, broadcast on Mondays from 9 to 9:30pm, when the sky is in its “Blue hour“, they talk about cultural matters. As an example, their last session was there to make you dream with the topic “Journeys”.

How and why did she join them ?

As an exchange student in Göteborg, you sometimes have lot of free time, for autonomous studies and social activities.

Mila wanted to use her free time for a Student Radio (project she already had in Berlin). She heard of K103 Göteborgs Studentradio from a friend from her home university and decided to join them.

If you want to join them too, the best is to make contact via their Facebook page or via the internet website. The membership fee is 200SEK which are invested in the rent of the studio and the material.

How does it work concretely?

Mila and Patrick on Blå Timme

The radio studio is situated between Götaplatsen and Valand.

The show are rarely broadcasting in direct and are sometimes recorded in the afternoon, a couple of hours before broadcasting.

Some shows need post-production modifications as unfortunately (and only downside of the adventure) the material is not optimum. The radio is normally getting founding from the universities (Chalmers and GU) but it has not happened the last years.

There is absolutely no censorship concerning the show and members are free to speak about everything there want. Shows already exist about a lot of different topics from culture to politics.

The radio is open to everyone and every new member is more than welcome to join an existing show or to create their own show.

A last word ?

The team is really friendly and it has been for Mila an awesome adventure to be part of K103 Göteborgs Studentradio so feel free to join them next semester.

Or if you are more from the listener side, you now know where to go to find information about what is happening in the city or to dream a bit during the Blue hour =).
