Given for the first time in 2000, the Göteborg award for sustainable development was created to reward people or organisations for their achievements in resources conservation, renewable materials, ecological solutions, environmental questions….
” For outstanding contributions towards a more sustainable future.”
The event is organised by the city of Göteborg and the region Västra Götaland in collaboration with various companies and organisations interested in sustainable development.
This award is given at an international scale and so far has rewarded organisations and people in Rwanda, Japan, USA, Sweden, Tanzania, Colombia, Denmark, Costa Rica, Ghana, Ethiopia, India, Netherlands, Germany, England…
This year, the theme is “Sharing city”.
For example, how to improve the sharing of goods, ownerships and information to reduce waste and overproduction.
The award, and a 1 million kronor price will be given by the Jury to the Mayor of Seoul, South Korea for his work in those domains.
The award ceremony will take place at Draken, Järntorget (tram lines 1, 3, 5, 6, 9, 10 and 11 // bus lines 60, 180, 190, 5409 and Bla express) this Thursday 17th of November.
