My first international festival was a super hit. 3 days of great music, sun and dancing. I deliberately came to Sweden earlier for this festival, and what a top decision that was. It was probably one of the best festivals I have ever been to. The idea of being in another country and to hear the same music I am so used to really helped me settle in quicker.
I saw acts like Tame Impala, Merchandise, Grimes, Kendrik Lamar, Ingrid Disco, The Knife, Cat Power, Junip, James Blake, Goat, Local Natives, Alabama Shakes, Of Monsters and Men and Beach House. The ticket is extremely expensive but not only do you get 3 days worth of great acts, you pretty much get access to the city’s cultural hotspots like the film theatres, Stay Out West gigs and much more. If you are staying in Gothenburg for next August, I highly suggest you get tickets. It is most certainly worth it.
It was here I met Ruby and Madi from Great Britain, and I met some Gothenburg locals, Matilda and Elsa. I love how music can bring people together. I ended up meeting Ruby and Madi a week later in Stockholm where we partied in Sodermalm, and I have had fika with Matilda and Elsa in Gothenburg too. I get the feeling that from my very first week in Gothenburg, I will have friends for life.
