This weekend, I got together with some friends to make a Thanksgiving feast! It was the first Thanksgiving meal for almost everyone involved.
An American friend of mine chose a few recipes (corn casserole, green bean casserole, stuffing, gravy, pumpkin pie, mashed potatoes etc) and assigned a small group of friends to each recipe. Then we all spent hours in the kitchen on Saturday. I had to help convert all of the American measurements for ingredients to the metric system– much too complicated!! We ended up accidentally cooking the turkey with the broiler oven setting for about two hours. Oops!
We ended up with LOTS of food. Everyone did a great job preparing their recipes, even though they didn’t always know what it was that they were making. Bonus points to the couple that made pumpkin pie using a real pumpkin because they couldn’t find canned filling. It was delicious!
