The HBTQ festival is a unique cultural festival which raises the standard of criticism and HBTQ persons’ living situation in an artistic and cultural context. The purpose is to highlight a diversity of expression by coordinating and organizing art and culture of the highest quality, but also to create meeting places and arenas for knowledge deepening, conversation and reflection.
Through art and culture, the festival encourages an open and tolerant social climate in Gothenburg and western Sweden. A climate that counteract prejudice and discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
The HBTQ festival serves as an umbrella that organizes and coordinates the program which is organized by various cultural stakeholders in the city. Everything that anyone would want to arrange that stands behind the festival’s core values are welcome to do that. The HBTQ Festival was founded in 2007 by the Gothenburg City Theatre, Culture House Blå Stället, Pustervik, Röhsska och Världskultur museum.
