Many people associate Gothenburg with trams. No wonder, Gothenburg has the largest tram network in Scandinavia: around 160 km of track. The trams have been in traffic since 1879! In the beginning trams were horse-drawn, and in 1902 the first electrical tram was introduced.
Every summer and winter you have possibility to travel on a vintage tram (there are even 100-year-old carriages) through the streets of central Gothenburg. The vintage trams are run by a non-profit organisation, Ringlinien Tramway Society.
Some trams even has names!
