Gender-neutral pronoun in Swedish

Well, today I’ve started again my efforts to learn Swedish. Hopefully, this time it’ll be much more successful. A good sign is that I really like my new professor. It seems he is excellent in explaining difficult stuff in an understandable way, which is quite an asset for a teacher. Besides, when he sees that students are a kind of tired, he cheers us up with a nice joke or a true, but really funny story from Swedish life. Enjoy!

Swedes want to introduce the gender-neutral pronoun, meaning they’re not going to use “han” and “hon” (“he” and “she” respectively) anymore. They’ll change them for “hen” applicable for both genders and the one that has been used by their neighbours Finns. Jazzhuset

On Thursday evening, me and my friend went to Jazzhuset to relax a bit at the end of the week. And we were not disappointed: maybe because we were really early or for some other reason, we did not need to pay an entrance fee. Besides, as there was a presentation of a new album of Alice B. we’ve got a free glass of sparkling wine. Perfect evening in a good company listening to nice music. Could you ask for more?

P.S. It seems that a real spring has come to Gothenburg. For two days we’ve been enjoying sun and warm weather. Hopefully, it’s not gonna change in the upcoming week.

Sweden has a new princess

Today Gothenburg is full of sun, warmth and flags! Sweden celebrates birth of new princess, daughter of Prince Daniel and Princess Victoria. Hmh..sounds like a sentence from a fairy tale, isn’t it?

Anyway, tomorrow will be some salutes fired in Gothenburg, to celebrate the birth of new Royal family member.

Visit to Feskekörka

If you like seafood, Feskekörka in Gothenburg is a place you definitely have to visit. First, the location is absolutely brilliant looking like a church. Second, probably this is the only place in Gothenburg where you can find the best choice of fish and sea delicacies that are, by the way, amazingly fresh. Finally, if you do not feel  like cooking, you may have lunch in a number of nice cafés in Feskekörka. I could definitely recommend hot sandwich with shrimps and marinated salmon.

Bon appetit!

P.S. Congratulations to all Swedes! Today Sweden has a new princess.
